You Mean I Don’t have to be sick?
By Chuck Wilson

Yolanda: (coughing) “What’s up girl?”
Tracey: “You feeling alright?”
Yolonda: (again coughing) “Yea, I’m straight, I think I coming down with something though. I’m going to take something when I get home and hop straight in the bed.”
Tracey: “Well, before you take “something” you should pray over yourself and receive your healing.”
Yolanda: “Say what?!?”

Have you ever woke up and felt like Yolanda?  Your throat had that “feeling”?  You know the feeling that makes you say to yourself “Shoot, I think I’m getting sick.” Many of us will do the same thing Yolanda planned to do: reach for the nearest cold medicine and hit the sack.

Praise God for medical science and all of the advances we have made in curing what ails us.

But, just for a second, think about another way of not staying sick or “receiving your healing. God’s word tells us that we don’t have to accept sickness as “just another part of life”. . . above all I wish that thou mayest prosper and be in health even as thy soul prosperest.”
III John 1 KJV.

W

What does this verse mean?  What does it mean when it says “…be in health…”?  It’s Gods will that we remain healthy and not accept sickness and disease.

You may ask “Yea, but how do I do that?”  Well, I’m glad you asked that question. Here are the three ways that will help you live III John 1:

  •  Salvation--You have to be born again or be “saved” for this verse to apply to you; you must confess Jesus as your Savior first. “For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13 KVJ

  • Speak--When you begin to feel sick, speak III John 1 out loud but personalize it.  For instance where it says “I wish” say “God’s wishes” or “God’s will is that…” Where it says “and be in health…” insert “I” or your name so that you say “… I may be in health…” By doing this you have spoken the verse with your mouth and you have personalized it; it’s now your verse!
  • Steady—you must remain steady even if your symptoms do not go away right away.  Keep speaking the verse and know that God meant what he said.

Now does all this mean that when you feel sick you should deny what you’re feeling? Absolutely not!  What you ARE denying is the sickness’ right to remain in your body.  Does this mean that you should not take the medicine that your parents tell you to take or medicine that the doctor prescribes for you? Once again, NO!  Just speak III John 1 before you take the medicine.

Remember, it’s God will that you walk in Divine health.  And speaking God’s word will cause sickness to get up out of your body.
