The condition of Hip-Hop equals Genocide – The Yuinon Responds
In an effort to impact as many youth as they can, the nationally recognized movement within hip-hop called The Yuinon responds to the music’s overwhelmingly corruptive content and destructive depictions of urban life with Genocide.
An ambitious undertaking that should cause a stir within hip-hop, Genocide skillfully identifies the problems within the culture with indicting wordplay and rugged nod-worthy beats that forces artists and consumers alike to ponder whether they are a part of the problem or if they are presenting a solution.
The solution these artists present you ask? Jesus Christ.
“Drugs, money, sex, ice, hooks, beats and cars, I’m sick of the same seven topics on every sixteen bars!” ( Light Da Flow Minista from “The Block”)
Yuinon members Precise, Mahogany Jones (A five time winner of BET’s Freestyle Fridays), Light Da Flow Minista, The Mad Prophets, Minister Zion, and others submit poignant observations that collectively add up to what some are already calling a classic, or the release of the year within the genre.
MC Precise states, “we’ve been to the schools to build with these youth, in New York, Detroit, all over, and though some are slow to admit it, they acknowledge that hip-hop has affected them, attitudes and behavior. Maji adds, “the youth connect with us, because we’re accessible beyond our rhymes and when we leave they feel like there is hope for them and the artists.”

If last year’s groundbreaking release The H.E.R. Project created a national buzz, Genocide should solidify The Yuinon as an important voice within the culture. The conceptual and socially relevant rhymes on Genocide with hot beats from a hungry production team led by founder Maji, result in a sound unlike anything you have heard. |
The destruction of a generation is underway. How will you respond? Stop the genocide, with Genocide.
This CD provides great ammunition to at least get you started.
